Struggling with many global environmental problems and many affairs
in school education, the environmental education is now generally
recognized as an essential process for the human development throughout
a lifetime. The Japanese Ministry of Education, Science, Sports
and Culture (MESSC) has proposed new guidelines for environmental
education for students from elementary to high school. For ensuring
these guidelines, the MESSC has proposed some educational courses
for the students from elementary to high school, which are managed
by university staffs. We have done two such courses supported
by MESSC, which were for showing the significant feature of natural
processes and their interaction with human activities. The courses
were successful and the results of the questionnaires to the attendants
revealed that the attended students got deeper understanding about
relations of nature and human. These successes suggest that the
university staffs have ability and responsibility for supporting
environmental education for students from elementary to high school.
